[CANCELLED] Super Angels

The eyes of the world will be focused on Tokyo in August 2020, and the New National Theatre, Tokyo has decided that this is the perfect opportunity to run a special program to inform the world about the culture and technology of Japan. A production of a new opera with children and an android will be staged and it is expected to widen over the full potential of performing arts through a new style of stage production that concentrates on themes of science, technology and human, which is sure to charm both at home and overseas.

The special program will be produced by ONO Kazushi, the Artistic Director of Opera at the New National Theatre, Tokyo based on a script by novelist SHIMADA Masahiko, and the music will be provided by composer SHIBUYA Keiichiro, who was also involved in the Vocaloid Opera "THE END" starring Hatsune Miku and the Android Opera "Scary Beauty". It will be conducted by ONO and will be directed by OGAWA Eriko, the Artistic Director of Drama at the New National Theatre, Tokyo.

The main characters of this new opera are Alter 3, an android with artificial life and children chorus and the drama depicts friendship between an android and children. Children will sing and act together with professional opera singers and the New National Theatre Chorus and the music will be performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. The National Ballet of Japan will also take part, providing a level of collaboration between Opera, Ballet and Drama that has never been seen before at the New National Theatre, Tokyo.
