NNT Opera Studio "Le Nozze di Figaro"

NNT Opera Studio was founded in April 1998 as Japan's first-ever theatre-affiliated training institute for those seeing a career in opera. Young singers are given an opportunity to appear on the stage of New National Theatre Tokyo from the first semester at the Opera Studio, in order to acquire the skill to perform as opera singers.

In July 2023, David Edwards, who directed the highly acclaimed 'Scenes Recital 2023', returns as acting coach and director, with Sato Masahiro, Director of the NNT Opera Studio, conducting. This production brings together top-tier conductors, directors, staff, and orchestra members, along with talented NNT Opera Studio alumni, including Yoshida Tamayo, Kobayashi Sakiko, Komada Toshiaki, and Matsunaka Teppei, all of whom are actively performing at the NNTT and beyond. Infused with the youthful energy and vibrant performances of these Opera Studio singers, this rendition of Le Nozze di Figaro promises to offer a fresh and unique flavour, distinct from the rich, traditional productions you may be familiar with.
