DETAILS
This is the first work from overseas to be staged since OGAWA Eriko took up the post of Artistic Director of Drama.
In collaboration with the Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe in Paris, we will present the Japan premiere of a new production of Tennessee WILLIAM's masterpiece "The Glass Menagerie", which had its world premiere at the Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe in Paris in March 2020. "The Glass Menagerie" was scheduled to be the first producion of the 2020/2021 season, but with performances in its home country, France, shutting down after only five days due to COVID-19, there was no chance to bring it to Japan at that time. The decision was made for the production to tour Europe starting in April 2021 and then to stage the Japanese premiere in September.
The lead role of Amanda is played by French stage and film star Isabelle HUPPERT, directed by Ivo van HOVE, known the world over for his succession of headlining productions.[Covid-19] Our Prevention Plan and Request to Our Patrons
The performances will be taking place based on the policies of the Japanese government and the Tokyo Metropolitan government, along with the guideline for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 infection by the Association of Public Theatres and Halls in Japan.
Please read this page before visiting the theatre.
