NNT Drama Studio was established in April 2005 with the objective of training the next generation of theatre actors. Classes are led by a faculty of experts in theatre education and prominent practitioners from inside and outside Japan.

Following their summer reading performance "Little Boy, Big Typhoon", the 3rd year students now take on their next challenge: "After a Sewing Machine Jumped Out of Tomie's Skirt," written by Juro Miyoshi.
Set in the turbulent postwar period, this powerful play portrays the dramatic and complex lives of Tomiko and her comrades as they struggle to survive. True to Miyoshi's style, the work is filled with intense energy, delivering one impassioned line after another.

The 3rd year students will give their all under the direction of Maiko Tanaka, who also directed this work in 2018.

The performance will be played in Japanese.

SYNOPSIS

Set in postwar Japan, the play depicts the stormy life of Tomiko (called Tomie) and her friends. Tomie, a woman of the street, decides to cut all ties with her current profession and finds a way to earn her living by dressmaking using a sewing-machine she bought with hard-earned money. Once a newspaper journalist exposes her past, however, she was forced to move from one temporary job to another and eventually starts to work at a show tent.

Booking Z seats (Day tickets) 1,650 yen

You are able to purchase Z seat tickets online from 10:00 am. Click "BUY TICKETS" next to "Z" under each performance information.
There is a handling charge of ¥330 (incl. tax).
- Only when seats allocated as Z seat are still available 2 hours before the show starts, you are able to purchase these tickets at the Box Office of the theatre.
- Note that all Z seats are on a first come, first served basis and will come with restricted views.

No admittance to pre-school children. Each child older than this age requires a ticket for entry, even when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
