Professor Emeritus of French Thought and Literature at Keio University.
He is known as the translator of the trilogy of "The Notebook" by Ágota Kristóf and her other playwrights, "Simple Passion" by Annie Ernaux, "Candide" by Voltaire, and many more. In addition to these French literary works, he also translates French anthropologist Emmanuel Todd works.
He recently pubilished "War, Army and the whereabouts of Japan; Discuss on the essence of Article 9 of Japanese Constitution" (joint authorship).
One of the representative of citizen's study group <Oikos>.
He has been working in Institut Français du Japon as a teacher and a moderator of its occasional event Café philo.
