NNT Drama Studio "Romeo and Juliet"

NNT Drama Studio was established in April 2005 with the objective of training the next generation of theatre actors. The play is led by a faculty of experts in theatrical education and prominent theatre makers from inside and outside of Japan.

Following the August reading performance of When the Wind Blows, the actors who entered in 2022 now take on their second challenge: Shakespeare's timeless masterpiece, Romeo and Juliet, a work frequently performed across the globe in theatre, film, and ballet. This extraordinary play, with its exploration of deep-seated grudges, envy, unbreakable traditions, and the pure love and passion of young people determined to overcome these obstacles, will now be tackled with full dedication. Directed by Okamoto Kenichi, who has appeared in all of the New National Theatre Tokyo's Shakespeare history plays and serves as an instructor at the training institute, the production promises an exciting fusion of energy with the vibrant actors who joined in 2022. This powerful collaboration is sure to leave a lasting impression, and anticipation is high for what the production will deliver.
