NNT Drama Studio "Kimi ha Sunawachi Haru wo Suikondanoda"

NNT Drama Studio was established in April 2005 with the objective of training the next generation of theatre actors. The Studio is led by a faculty of experts in theatrical education and prominent theatre makers from inside and outside of Japan.

This autumn, the students who entered in 2021 will take on Kimi ha Sunawachi Haru wo Suikondanoda written by Harada Yu, under the direction of Tanaka Maiko. The playwright received the highest awards at the 'Nihon no Geki' Playwriting Awards 2014 with this work.

The story features Niimi Nanchiki, one of the most beloved Japanese picture book writers. Harada delicately describes the last six years of Nankichi's life and his surroundings in this play. Silent but deeply moving, it reflects the warmth of humanity and explores this short-lived artist's inner torment of the ideal and reality.

Nankichi's masterpieces, such as "Gon, the Little Fox" and "Buying Mittens", are still popular after decades of all ages. We are honoured to present this play this year marking his 110th anniversary. Please come along to enjoy this very Japanese play.
