Ambassadors and representatives of cultural organizations attended "Der fliegende Holländer"
"Der fliegende Holländer" is an early masterpiece by Wagner, portraying the theme of "redemption through love," which he pursued throughout his life, brought to life with dramatic music.
In this production, under the baton of the renowned conductor Marc Albrecht, making his debut at the New National Theatre Tokyo, the stellar performances of Elisabet Strid, Jonathan Stoughton, and Teppei Kono--who stepped in as a replacement for the Dutchman--were met with resounding applause from ambassadors and cultural representatives in attendance.
During the interval reception, President Zenitani delivered a speech, appealing for understanding and support for the New National Theatre Tokyo as we strive to further our efforts toward globalization with significant initiatives.
