The National Ballet of Japan to Participate in International Draft Works 2026
The National Ballet of Japan will participate in the International Draft Works 2026, hosted by the Royal Ballet and Opera this April, presenting a new work titled Re: sonance, choreographed by its First Soloist Yoshito Kinoshita.
Yoshito Kinoshita has been actively creating and presenting new works through the NBJ Choreographic Group, an initiative aimed at nurturing choreographers within NBJ, and is scheduled to premiere a newly commissioned work for the company in November 2026.
For Re: sonance, Kinoshita explores the theme of "resonance." The piece features two dancers who attune to each other's energy, generating fluid, continuous movements reminiscent of a single unbroken line. Through this process, the choreography aims to create a sense of unity, as the two performers merge into a harmonious, shared world.
International Draft Works is a platform that brings together emerging choreographers from around the globe. The National Ballet of Japan considers it an honor to take part in this vibrant showcase of talent and remains committed to shaping the future of ballet through innovation and artistic exploration.
