YOSHIMOTO YasuhisaFirst Soloists

YOSHIMOTO Yasuhisa was born in Tokyo and studied ballet under IMAMURA Hiroaki and KAWAGUCHI Yuriko at the Yuriko Kawaguchi Ballet School, later taking part in the founding of the Ballet Chambre Ouest in 1989. In 1991 he enrolled in the Contemporary Dance Course at the Nihon University College of Art, and won first Place in the Pas de Deux category of the Kobe Dance Competition. Upon graduation in 1995, he was presented with the Nihon University Chancellor's Award. Yasuhisa accompanied the Ballet Chambre Ouest on its 2000 international tour, performing at venues such as the Bolshoi Theatre, Alexandrinsky Theatre and the Estonian State Theatre. He then joined the National Ballet of Japan as Soloist in 2001.His repertory includes the Prince in The Nutcracker, as well as Ulrich in Roland PETIT's La Chauve Souris, Marcutio in Kenneth MACMILLAN's Romeo and Juliet, Jester in Swan Lake, Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, Bronze Idol in La Bayadère, Jester in ASHTON's Cinderella and The Djinn of the Lamp in David BINTLEY's Aladdin. He started teaching at the National Ballet of Japan in 2014.
