Announcement (2): Guest Dancer for The Nutcracker in 2005
Since the autumn of 2001, Shiga Misae has performed many leading roles as a dancer contracted with the New National Theatre Ballet, Tokyo, and her dancing has been highly praised. She recently decided to retire from active work at the end of the current season of the New National Theatre, Tokyo. Therefore, her appearance in The Sleeping Beauty on May 2 will be the last opportunity to see her dancing the leading role in a full-length ballet.
With her retirement from the stage, the role of Masha in The Nutcracker (on December 23), which Shiga had been scheduled to dance, will be performed by Nishiyama Yuko. Similarly, the title role in Giselle (on June 24, 2006) will be danced by Motojima Miwa. Your kind understanding will be appreciated.
The New National Theatre Ballet is pleased to announce that the guest dancer, who will dance as the prince in the performance of The Nutcracker on December 23 and 25, will be Leonid Sarafanov from the Mariinsky Theatre.
