This is the fourth of CHONG Wishing's works at the New National Theatre Tokyo, following his trilogy comprising "Like Wild Flowers", "Sumire's Hair Salon" and "Yakiniku Dragon", plays based on Japan from the 1950s to the 1970s, depicting the aftermath of the Second World War.

Set in Changi Prison of Singapore in 1947, the play tells the story of Japanese and Koreans who were formerly Japanese soldiers imprisoned as BC-class war criminals. Those who ordered and carried out atrocities such as violence against prisoners of war or killing of civilians were designated as BC-class war criminals which included not only Japanese soldiers, but also Korean and Taiwanese captive guards.

Written in 2010 by CHONG Wishing for the Myeongdong Art Theater in Seoul, its first performance, in Korean, was directed by SOHN Jin-Chaek, with subsequent performances in Beijing. Largely revised for performance at the New National Theatre Tokyo, it will now be performed in Japan for the first time. This is the fever-pitch universe of CHONG Wishing, who always portrays the world at large from the warm-hearted and indepth observation.

Come and savour this portrayal of war and nationhood by CHONG Wishing, a "play to be remembered".
