A new production gaining much attention this season, "Lucia di Lammermoor" is one of the finest bel canto operas composed by Gaetano DONIZETTI.
Set in Ravenswood in 17th century Scotland, the story unfolds around the title character and protagonist Lucia, her brother Enrico, Lord of Lammermoor and Edgardo, Lucia's lover and Enrico's antagonistic rival.
One of the auditory highlights is <Il Dolce Suono... Spargi D'amaro Pianto>, sung by Lucia in the famous Mad Scene. This well-known aria is a demanding piece tackled by many coloratura sopranos. The challenging role will be played by Olga PERETYATKO-MARIOTTI in her New National Theatre, Tokyo debut. The production will be directed by the Jean-Louis GRINDA, the general director of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo in Monaco, and conducted by Giampaolo BISANTI. Edgardo will be played by Ismael JORDI, while Enrico will be played by Artur RUCIŃSKI, both making their debut appearance at the New National Theatre, Tokyo.
This is a co-production with the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, with its world premiere at the New National Theatre, Tokyo in March 2017 followed by the presentation at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.
