First performed at the NNTT in November 2007, the acclaimed Uyama production of Carmen will return for another run. The conductor will be Maurizio Barbacini. Cast in the title role is Kirstin Chávez, who has played Carmen in theatres in the US, Australia and elsewhere. Don José will be sung by Torsten Kerl, and Escamillo by John Wegner. Both singers are already well-known to opera fans in Japan. The part of Micaëla will be sung by Hamada Rie, who currently resides in France. A cast of accomplished artists will put their talents together for this production of Bizet's popular opera.
