"Der Rosenkavalier" has opened on the 30th of November

On the 30th of November, opera "Der Rosenkavalier" has opened to a full house.


This masterpiece is set in high society Vienna, and portrays in elegant and exquisite music about memories of times gone by and of young, new love.

Director Jonathan MILLER excels at detailed character portrayal, and in moving the action from that pinnacle of aristocratic culture 18th century Vienna to 1912, which is one year after the first staging of "Der Rosenkavalier", he has the work impart a sense of the vicissitudes of the time.
The Marschallin is played by the world-class Wagnerian soprano, Ricarda MERBETH. Baron Ochs is played by Jürgen LINN. Sophie is played by Golda SCHULTZ, who has had enormous success in this role and appears at the New National Theatre Tokyo for the first time. Octavian is played by Stephanie ATANASOV. The conductor is the maestro Ulf SCHIRMER.
