Company Derashinera is a dance company celebrated in Japan and abroad for their creation of works which are reminiscent of physical theatre and offer a fusion of mime, dance and spoken word. Onodera Shuji was formerly a performer with the mime and dance company Mizu to Abura. When the group went on hiatus, Onodera spent a year studying in France before launching a new company, Company Derashinera, in 2008.
Their latest production combines deft character portraits, mime gestures and dance, and a musical score which serves to heighten the expression of a unique worldview, in the company's effort to realize a "visual rendering of air in motion".
