Don Quixote

A merry romp of a love story set in Spain

Don Quixote is a ballet choreographed by Marius Pepita, but unlike Pepita's The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty, works built around fairy tales and a world of fantasy, Don Quixote paints a true-to-life portrait of a young man who could have actually existed. This may be what gives Don Quixote a vivid, powerful air of vitality, and why the work continues to captivate audiences right up to the present day.
The NNTT invited Alexei Fadeyechev, then Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Ballet, to produce Don Quixote and premiered this new production in March 1999. Each repeat run has garnered rave reviews, and this will be the ballet's fourth run at the NNTT.
