KIDS BALLET
Snow White

We want to convey the true artistry of ballet. We want to give children a day they will never forget. Children, with their unaffected hearts, are able to see straight to the core of arts. We want people to experience real artistry when they are children. We want to convey the fun and emotion of ballet to as many children as possible. We hope that these emotions can be shared by families. At the New National Theatre Ballet, Tokyo, we believe that we have an important mission to convey the splendors of ballet to children.

We will explain the beautiful and spectacular world of ballet in a way that is fun and easy to understand. We also plan to introduce ballet through videos of the ballet company's rehearsals, which are rarely seen by the public.

SYNOPSIS

There once was a beautiful princess called Snow White. Her stepmother, the queen, believed herself to be the most beautiful woman in the world.
But when the queen asked her magic mirror, "Who is the fairest in the land?" the mirror answered that it was Snow White. The queen became so angry that she ordered a hunter to take Snow White into the woods and kill her. The hunter took pity on Snow White, however, and let her escape.
When the queen discovered through her magic mirror that Snow White was still alive, she changed herself into the form of an old woman and took a poisoned apple to the spot in the forest where Snow White was hiding among a group of dwarves. The queen just could not be satisfied if she was not the most beautiful woman in the world.
Snow White ate the poisoned apple and collapsed. The dwarves, believing that she was dead, were overcome with grief and they placed her in a glass casket. Then a prince happened to pass by.
