Promotions: WATANABE Takafumi promoted to Principal dancer
The National Ballet of Japan is delighted to announce that WATANABE Takafumi has been promoted to Principal dancer.
Born in Fukushima prefecture, WATANABE Takafumi joined Le Ballet du Capitole in Toulouse after graduating from the Princess Grace Academy of Dance in Monaco at the top of the class.
He joined the National Ballet of Japan as Soloist in 2016 and performed the leading roles in Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Giselle and Nutcracker.
He was promoted to First Soloist in 2017, and made a remarkabe debut as Romeo in Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet in the opening of the 2019/2020 Ballet Season.
His first performance as a Principal will be The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, and he will perform Prince on 21 Dec. at 18:00 and 22 Dec. at 18:00.
