Give a magical Christmas present to your family with “Cinderella”
In Japan, this work is exclusively performed by the New National Theatre Ballet. “Cinderella” and “The Nutcracker” have been part of the end of year repertoire here at NNTT. “Cinderella” was choreographed and created into a piece full of love, humor, and pathos by legendary British choreographer Frederick Ashton. Since the work’s premiere in December 1999 at NNTT, it has been well received as a present for families so that ballet can be enjoyed together. We have invited Alina Cojocaru, a principal dancer of The Royal Ballet, to perform alongside NNTT dancers. Her last performance at NNTT was highly applauded, which made her very popular in Japan.

The wicked stepsisters go to the ball. Cinderella is left to mind the house, and her fairy godmother appears, magically transforming a pumpkin into a carriage to take Cinderella to the ball, where she and the prince fall in love. But suddenly it is midnight, and she must not break her promise to return. Using the shoe she has left behind in her haste as a clue, the prince finds her, and the two live happily ever after.
