New challenges in this the 11th year of this theatre Original ballet for the New National Theatre Tokyo
“Aladdin” is an original ballet newly created for NNTT by David Bintley, the Artistic Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet. From early in his career, Bintley has been choreographing works for Birmingham Royal Ballet as well as for The Royal Ballet. He is a widely acclaimed choreographer of our own time, and he made his NNTT debut with “Carmina Burana” in autumn 2005, it was a tour de force that won over the hearts of many ballet and music aficionados in Japan. Bintley says that he chose this work for NNTT because he highly values this theatre, and we are greatly honored by his debuting of this new work at NNTT. This will be an appropriately grand stage to celebrate the first 10 years of NNTT, and to aim at greater future progress.

Music is composed by Carl Davis who is renowned in films and musicals
The music “Aladdin” was composed by Carl Davis, who is highly acclaimed in the fields of films and musicals, and it debuted in 2000 at the Edinburgh Festival. Brilliantly written and well-constructed, this spectacle captures Aladdin’s ambitious adventure. Davis plans on being in Japan for this performance.
