Love shines in a Parisian garret. A bittersweet group portrait of young bohemians.

An opera of wayward youth by the master Puccini that allows one to savor the beauty of Italian opera to its fullest extent. Set in Paris at Christmastime, the opera’s musical fluency brilliantly depicts the innocent romance of two young people with dreams of the future, caught up in the lifestyle of young bohemians in the garrets of the city. Mimi will be played by the Spanish diva María Bayo, who has performed principally in Europe, while Sano Shigehiro, acclaimed worldwide for his “shining voice,” will appear in the role of Rodolfo. Have your handkerchiefs ready for the ending of this warm but bittersweet love story.

Synopsis

The impoverished poet Rodolfo and the painter Marcello share a garret in 1830s Paris. On Christmas Eve, Rodolfo meets his neighbor Mimi and they quickly fall in love. Meanwhile, Marcello and Musetta are reunited after a chance meeting at a cafe, causing the young companions to sing of the magnificence of love. However, concern over Mimi’s illness causes she and Rodolfo to part. Time passes and Musetta brings a dying Mimi to Rodolfo. As he holds her, Mimi silently breathes her last breath, bringing Rodolfo to bitter tears.
