The
tale of a prince coming down to earth on Christmas Eve.
It happened one Christmas Eve. A big party was held at Masha's house around a tall Christmas tree. Masha was so happy because she was given a nutcracker by her dear godfather Drosselmeyer, but that was not all that made her Christmas wonderful. That night, the nutcracker, who fought against an army of mice, changed into a handsome prince and took her to the Kingdom of Sweets.
Performed at theatres worldwide at Christmas time, "The Nutcracker" is a ballet that gives poetic charm to winter. The New National Theatre, Tokyo was quick to add it to its repertoire and its previous performance of "The Nutcracker" was well received by audiences. In this year's production, which will include guest dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre, NNTT will present an even more dazzling performance of "The Nutcracker" with a diverse cast of dancers. Led by the handsome prince, Masha experiences fantastic snow scenes, the dance of the colorfully dressed Sugar-Plum Fairies, and a splendid waltz of roses. This fairy tale world unfolds adorned by Tchaikovsky's cheerful music. This is a fantasy for children who wait in expectation for Christmas and also for everyone, old and young alike, who continue to hold on to dreams.
