Background
The year 2006 will be the Mozart Year in which the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth will be celebrated around the world. The NNTT will greet the year with performances of his last opera Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute). The director Michael Hampe will take an orthodox approach to the opera, which harbors many mysteries, to produce a profound, noble world of fairytales. The NNTT would like to suggest that as an opener for the commemorative year, you and your family surround yourselves in the world of ideals created by Mozart.

Synopsis
Prince Tamino hears that Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of Night, was taken by the “evil” Sarastro. When shown a picture of Pamina, he falls in love with her, and attended by Papageno, he goes to the temple of Sarastro. In reality, Sarastro is a high priestess of virtue. Tamino is told that he has to overcome various ordeals to rescue Pamina. He bravely faces these ordeals and successfully surmounts them.
