"Cavalleria Rusticana" is well known for its beautiful yet wistful interlude, while "I Pagliacci" grabs your hearts with its passionate tenor 'Vesti La Giubba/Put on the costume'. These magnum opuses of verismo opera depict the tragedy caused by love and jealousy in the context of the rich provincialism and religious atmosphere of Southern Italy. Conducting will be Renato Palumbo, who is a real hand at Italian opera. Directing will be Gilbert Deflo, who is playing active roles in the Paris Opera House and the Zurich Opera. You can also look forward to a vocal feast from Lucrecia Garcia, who enjoys popularity at La Scala, and Gustavo Porta, who earned critical praise for his debut as a Canio at Vienna State Opera.
