This startling production of Kriegenburg, which depicts the tragedy of people at the bottom of the heap from the viewpoint of Wozzeck, and received great acclaim in 2009, makes a much-awaited return to the NNTT. This work is one of few 20th century operas that have become part of the popular repertoire of many opera houses worldwide. Alban Berg's music is so elaborate that audiences cannot resist its beauty. On the podium will be world-renowned conductor, Günter Neuhold. The title role will be sung by George Nigl, who is known for modern opera and who played the same role at the Bavarian State Opera in 2012. Marie will be sung by Elena Zhidkova, who is highly popular among audiences at the NNTT.
