THE LOFT
---In order to pursue an even closer space for drama, the art of words, THE LOFT series, uses a space created by dividing the Pit into halves. Three works will be presented using actors and production staff that best suit this dense space. Discover new attractions in the power of words that drama has by feeling the very breath of the actors as they speak their lines.
Writer Shinohara Kumiko and stage director Miyazaki Masako, who
are both attracting keen attention right now, will appear at the
New National Theatre, Tokyo for the first time. Hito no Kakera
(Fragments of a Human Being) is an ambitious work that uses mother
and child, distressed about the leading-edge clone technology, to
get to the heart of the relationship between man and science and
philosophy. By asking what life is, what blood is and what a parent
and child are, this work offers the audience a glimpse of the origin
of human existence, the relationship between body, mind and life,
as well as the horror and strangeness of a "duplication society."
Would you accept human clones and a cloned society?
