Running time is approx. 2 hours 45 mins including intervals
A Shakespearean tragedy and one of the greatest masterpieces of Italian opera, this work took renowned Italian composer Giuseppe VERDI seven years to complete.
Directed by the Italian film director Mario MARTONE. One of the most remarkable features of this production is the use of 50 tons of real water on the set to create the streets of Venice, the city on the water. MARTONE says, "I use my staging to bring out the essence of the drama". This production expertly brings out all the emotions of jealousy, hatred, suspicion and murder in the opera alongside VERDI's dramatic musical score. Carlo VENTRE will be playing the vocally demanding role of Otello, while Serena FARNOCCHIA will take on Desdemona. The production will be conducted by Paolo CARIGNANI, following on from "Nabucco" in 2013.
