Our Opera & Ballet Productions will be screened at the Teatro Real (Madrid)

2018 is the year that marks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Spain in 1868.
Celebrating this special year, the New National Theatre Tokyo and the Teatro Real (Madrid) decided to exchange and screen the recordings of each other's productions.

At the Teatro Real, our 3 productions (ballet "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King", "Swan Lake" and opera "Madama Butterfly") will be screened on July 3, 6 and 8.

Teatro Real

Located close to the Royal Palace of Madrid, Teatro Real is a major opera house of Spain which is founded in 1818 and inaugurated in 1850.

The Teatro Real Foundation is chaired by the King and Queen of Spain. The theatre closed in 1925 and reopened in 1997. Today, the Teatro Real presents opera, ballet, dance performances and concerts. This year, Teatro Real is celebrating its 200th anniversary since its foundation.

"Opera Week" is presented every summer by Teatro Real since in 2015, which offers various events for free as a way of connecting and opening the theatre to the public. This year, our productions of opera "Madama Butterfly", ballet " The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" and "Swan Lake" will be screened as a part of this programme.
