Audition for Dancers at the National Ballet of Japan

Audition to recruit dancers as the Soloist and for the Corps de Ballet.
"2018/2019 Season Contract Dancer" and "2018/2019 Season Registered Dancer" positions available.
* Whether to become a Contract Dancer or a Registered Dancer is determined by the result of the audition.

Period of Contract

Under the Artistic Director, OHARA Noriko, dancers will appear in performances at the New National Theatre Tokyo and Regional tours after July 2018.
The contractual or registered period will be from July 2018 to June 2019.


Requirements

  • Must be age 18 or over at the date of the 1st of September 2018.
  • Female candidates must be minimum 163cm. Male candidates must be minimum 173cm.
  • Foreign candidates must have the Certificate of Authorized Employment in Japan.


Remuneration

　
Paid according to the applied rules and regulation of the New National Theatre Tokyo.

  • 2.　Fill in the required sections and paste your full body portrait in rehearsal wear and a headshot.
  • 3.　Enclose a video (DVD) of your dance scene (Candidates for the Soloist only).
  • 4.　Send the Application Form, portraits and DVD to the address below by registered mail.

Audition Process (The Judge: OHARA Noriko, Artistic Director of National Ballet of Japan)

  • 1.　Pre-selection based on submitted documents.
    　　When accepted to proceed to the next stage, you will be notified by email or by post until the 22nd of January, 2018.
    　　Please note that the Application Form and DVD will not be returned to you.

  • 2.　The 1st Technical Assessment by joining a Class, performing Variations and/or Pas de deux, etc.
    　　will be held on the 28th of January (10:30-)
    　　at the Ballet Rehearsal Room of the New National Theatre Tokyo.

  • 3.　The 2nd Technical Assessment by joining a Class of the Company
    　　will be held on the 29th of January (10:00-)
    　　at the Ballet Rehearsal Room of the New National Theatre Tokyo.
