

WAKASUGI HIROSHI (Artistic Director)
After his graduation from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Hiroshi Wakasugi started his career as researching conductor of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. So far he has been working as permanent conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, principal conductor of the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra and - after engagements at the State Theatre Darmstadt and Theatre of Dortmund - has been appointed General Music Director of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf / Duisburg, permanent conductor of the State Opera (Semperoper) Dresden and Staatskapelle Dresden, and conductor of the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich. Furthermore the Tonhalle Zürich (Switzerland) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra named him artistic director as well as principal conductor.
At present he is appointed the Artistic Director at the New National Theatre, Tokyo and a permanent conductor of the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
His teaching activities include professorships at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and Toho Gakuen School of Music.
Wakasugi Hiroshi is a member of the Japan Art Academy.
