

FUKUCHI SHIGEO
After graduating from the Faculty of Economics at Nagasaki University, He joined Asahi Breweries, Ltd., in 1957. In 1999, he was appointed president and COO of Asahi, and after serving as chair, he became advisor to the board in 2006. He stepped down from that post in 2008, and was reappointed in 2011.
In 2008, he became president of NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) and remained in that post through January 2011.
In April 2011, he was named president of the New National Theatre, Tokyo.
He is extremely knowledgeable about culture and the arts and served as president of the Asahi Beer Arts Foundation from 2002 to 2006. He is currently also engaged in the cultural and arts field through his posts as president of the Association for Corporate Support of the Arts and director of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space.
